Occurrence: Kingda Ka Disappearances

March 18, 2014: Three people are said to have vanished while riding the Kingda Ka roller coaster at Six Flags’s Great Adventure (Jackson, NJ). No bodies were found, no police reports were filed, and no one was ever reported missing. Nonetheless there exists uninterrupted footage of two men and one woman boarding the ride and the same cars returning without them.

The natural assumption that these were base jumpers or thrill-seekers of some sort has been refuted by engineers from the AgSol Physics Wing. Furthermore, two members of the design team which created the roller coaster insist that safety measures prevent such a scenario, but decline to offer an alternative theory.

Much has been written about the incident online, and at some point a small brass plaque was affixed to the pavement near the ride’s entrance. It reads: “Three riders may or may not have disappeared from this spot 3/18/14. If so, and nobody knows for sure, then they have slipped the surly bonds of Earth to touch the face of Ka.”

Park admin has called the story “a bit of fun,” and has thus far allowed plaque to remain.
